Sarnia and the Return of the Tundra Swans
Calling all bird lovers, photographers and outdoor enthusiasts!
Every spring, thousands of these magnificent birds return to the Old Thedford Bog near Grand Bend, Ontario, Canada, on their migration to the arctic. This is one of the first "stops" the swans make after leaving the wintering grounds off the coast of Maryland. While resting on this "staging area", the Tundra Swans give visitors an excellent opportunity to view one of the last great wildlife migrations.
Day 1: Sun., March 18 - The tour departs from Orillia at 7:30a.m., Barrie, Kozlov Mall at 8:00a.m. & Tour Office at 8:30a.m. (Overnight parking is available at our Tour Office) Today we will travel to Tavistock in the morning for lunch at Quehl’s Family Restaurant and onto Grand Bend in the afternoon. Boots, binoculars and cameras are recommended. We will visit the Lambton Heritage Museum and then have ample time to view the tundra swans in the Thedford Bog behind the museum. We’ll check into The Holiday Inn in Sarnia for our overnight stay. Tonight relax and savor a delicious dinner at the Marcanda Gifts & Tea Room. You will have ample time to browse the 2600sq. foot country gift shop and enjoy a delicious homemade food and desserts. Tonight you may opt to try your luck at the Point Edward Casino which is within walking distance from our hotel. (L & D)
Day 2: Mon., March 19 - This morning enjoy a full buffet breakfast in the hotel restaurant before returning to Grand Bend to view the tundra swans in the morning.
