Embrace winter!
Quebec Winter Carnival including visits to Ottawa, Montebello & Montreal
Tentative Itinerary:
Day 1: Wed., Feb. 1 - This morning we depart for Quebec with an afternoon stop in Ottawa to view some of the Winterlude festivities including the ice carvings at Confederation Park. In the afternoon, we travel to the Fairmont-Chateau Montebello for an overnight stay. This evening dinner is included at the hotel. (D).
Day 2: Thurs., Feb 2 - This morning we enjoy a visit to a local cheese producer before continuing on to Levis, where we will meet our local guide. We will travel by ferry on the St. Lawrence River to Quebec City. Upon arrival in Quebec City, we will take the funicular (cable car) from the lower town to the upper town and our hotel – the Hotel Champlain for our 2-night stay. The hotel is centrally located in old Quebec City and is within walking distance the Carnival attractions. Enjoy some free time to see the Bonhomme Carnival Castle before enjoying dinner at le Rivoli. (B, D).
Day 3: Fri., Feb 3 - This morning after breakfast, we meet our step on guide for a tour of the city and a visit Montmorency Falls. Lunch is included and the afternoon is yours to explore the city and the winter carnival events at the Plaines of Abraham. Dinner is on your own this evening and there are many restaurants to choose from within walking distance of the hotel. This evening we watch the preliminary canoe race event. (B, L).
Day 4: Sat., Feb 4 - This morning we attend the breakfast at the Plains of Abraham, hosted by the city of Calgary, the twin city of Quebec City. Then it is off to the annual soapbox derby in Old Quebec. There will be free time for shopping and lunch followed by and afternoon visit to the Ice Hotel. Following dinner, we attend the Carnival winter parade. (B, D).
Day 5: Sun., Feb 5 - Quebec / Montreal. This morning we travel to Ste-Anne de Beaupré cathedral for the visit of this pilgrimage site and then on to Orleans Island to visit a local producer for tastings of Ice Cider, patés, duck terrines and confits produce on site. We travel back to the city for the exciting Ice canoe competition on the St-Lawrence River before departing for Montreal in the late afternoon. Dinner this evening is a traditional Quebec dinner at a sugar shack, Chez Dany near Trois-Rivières featuring traditional music. (B, D).
Day 6: Mon., Feb 6 - This morning enjoy a city tour featuring Montreal’s cultural neighbourhoods and enjoy a visit and time for lunch and shopping at the Jean Talon Market before travelling home. (B).
Tour includes: motor coach transportation with tour director, 5 nights hotel accommodation, baggage handling for 1 large suitcase each, hotel taxes, 5 breakfasts, 1 lunch, 4 evening dinners, winter carnival passport, guided tours and admissions as listed in itinerary & HST.
